2021 is going beyond the reef with hulithemovement, one of the current amaolukai beneficiaries providing ocean education for public school students. This season, Huli is working with community stakeholders and students to begin restoring Maunalua Bay on Oahu's South Shore from Mauka (mountain) to Makai (ocean). Recently, Huli has partnered with Marine Biology grad students from Chaminade University to deploy temperature monitors into the bay to begin a long term water monitoring project. The hope is that the data collected will assist in management and restoration efforts as Huli and its partners look to address the issues facing its near shore ecosystem and coral reefs. #Huli #AmaOluKai #OceanEducation #OluKai #2021
