"The inspiration for all my red umbrella pieces is pretty simple: you need it when you’re in the barrel with all that water getting into your eyes, but also I believe every surfer starts off with his or her own umbrella. Basically it signifies that one thing you have that keeps you going (cup of coffee in the morning, a trip coming up, your loved one sleeping next to you, pho at the end of the cold day) but we tend to lose it, lose focus on what’s really important sometimes.
