Prepare for an electrifying journey into art with 'Bony Ramirez: Cattleya,' the next highlight in our Global Contemporary series. While exploring the Museum’s vast collection, Ramirez bonyramirezz encountered fellow Dominican artist Freddy Rodríguez’s freddyrodriguezart 'El Papa Verde (The Green Pope).' This hard-edge abstraction painting alludes to the violent exploitation the Americas were founded on, making it a perfect fit for Ramirez to include in his upcoming exhibition.
Opening April 18, 'Bony Ramirez: Cattleya' examines the continuing repercussions of colonialism, as well as the modern tourism industry in the Caribbean. Ramirez invites us to envision what reclamation of a space could look like.
