"This past year, 2020 has been filled with many themes, and unfortunately a common one is hate. Hate towards different religions, races, ethnicities, and sexual communities. It’s when the hate becomes crimes unnoticed based on the inability to distinguish people from their religion. When I walk down the street, without visible stereotypes, you can’t tell me from a White American or a Jew. Anti-Semitism, an unfortunate, but relevant issue in the world goes unnoticed because of the lack of awareness and realization of the oppression my religion has faced. It’s when it starts to hit close to home, I feel the need to use my voice as a UD Jewish Student Athlete to advocate the issue on Anti-Semitism. The Chabad Center for Jewish Life at University of Delaware, my home away from home, suffered an unfortunate and devastating fire brought on by arson, that destroyed the facility and, once again, is hitting so close to home.
