Do your kids know about the conflict in Ukraine? Are you trying to figure out if and how to talk to them about it? Here are 4 basic principles to think through . . . 1️⃣ - Speak truthfully, but keep conversations age appropriate. Ask what they have already heard. From there will depend on both the age of the child and their emotional maturity. Teens likely have a lot of information, so take time to do your research as well and help them process their concerns. Very young children probably don't have any awareness and that's okay — they likely don't yet have capacity to understand. 2️⃣ - Consider a media break when younger kids are around. Constant stream of information is not good for anyone, and images of violence are hard for even adults to take in.
