USMNT midfielder Gianluca Busio believes playing in relegation and promotion battles with Venezia helps him grow into a better player. He moved from Sporting Kansas City in MLS to Italian side Venezia back in the 2021 summer. “When I first moved here, going through that relegation, it helped me a lot. It helped me get to this point where I’m at now,” Busio told American Soccer Now in an interview. “When I first moved, everybody talked about the main differences between relegation and promotion. But I moved right into it, it was kind of a shock.” “I got the worst of it, the pain of the relegation. Now it’s the opposite. It helped me grow into where I can use what I learned to help us get promoted.” The 21-year-old has 13 caps for the USMNT and played in two different Gold Cups.
