Phillip Vardiman, Director of kansasstateuniversity Athletic Training Program, served on the medical staff for the 2016 #RioOlympics supporting the US track and field athletes. He was one of 6 athletic trainers on the medical team, alongside doctors, chiropractors, sports psychologists, and massage therapists. Phillip has worked alongside the USA Track and Field team since 2008, caring for athletes in the US and internationally. Phillip was named the 2016 Kansas Athletic Trainer of the Year by KATS and conducted an epidemiological study on injury and illness from athletes who participated in the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. "Being selected as an athletic trainer for the Olympics is an honor and a privilege," Vardiman said. "It has been a professional goal since becoming a certified athletic trainer.
