Legendary sprinter Wilma Rudolph (1940-1994) was just 16 when she qualified for her first Olympic team. At the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, she won bronze in the 4x100m relay.

She went on to set π records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. At the 1960 Rome Olympics, Rudolph became the first American woman to win three gold π₯ (100m, 200m and 4x100m relays).

She retired at the age of 22 and later became active in youth work, heading the Wilma Rudolph Foundation and coaching at depauwu.
