#MajorMonday featuring redshirt junior Kyla Kessler! “I decided to major in psychology with an emphasis in biology because I found the psychology course I took in high school to be very interesting, and I have always been amazed by the human body. My favorite class so far has been PSC 168: Abnormal Psychology. In this class, I learned a variety of neurological, physiological, and psychological disorders that can affect people throughout their lives. My plan after graduation is to continue my education and obtain a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I decided to pursue a career in physical therapy after experiencing a variety of injuries during my gymnastics career. These injuries span from ankle sprains and broken toes, to a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. I also realized from my personal experience and the experience of other injured athletes that mental health issues including stress and depression may affect the recovery process.
