#MajorMonday features senior Gabby Landess: “I was originally a neurobiology physiology and behavior major, but then I chose mechanical engineering because I wanted to combine creativity with my love of math and science (and I realized that being a doctor was not the path for me). So far my favorite class has been ENG 102: Dynamics. It broadened my understanding of applied math and physics. I learned how to (hypothetically) determine the speed of someone moving on an airplane relative to a car on the ground. While I dream of pursuing a career in set engineering and design (I am also minoring in film studies), I hope to utilize engineering in a multitude of fields in which I am passionate, including environmental infrastructure and social justice. I am particularly interested in tackling the ethical issues within the field of engineering (e.g. war profiteering), as well as encouraging and uplifting young women who want to pursue engineering.”
