Rising sophomore environmental science & management major, Petra Engstrom, has spent much of her summertime outdoors: “This summer some things have changed, and some things haven’t. Growing our own food, from our chicken flocks to a mini pumpkin patch and a small field of corn has always been what we do, but this year my dad and I really harnessed the extra time on our hands to go bigger than ever. Big hiking and camping trips to National Parks are another summer tradition in my family, but, sadly this year we couldn’t do it together for obvious reasons. Instead, my brother, Soren, and I took off into the wilderness together for a socially distanced hiking trip through Utah. In the future, I hope to expand my family’s micro farm, visit every National Park, and trek long distance hikes like the Pacific Crest Trail!” -Petra
