I took one last look at my bare shoulder in the mirror and then looked away for the duration of the tattoo. I remember vividly glancing at Christian (bass 4) next to me near the end-we were simultaneously grimacing and beaming with joy. Once my tattoo was done, I stood up, looked in the mirror, and was filled with happiness. I knew that I now shared a bond with my brothers and sisters in this bassline as well as all of the other basslines before my time.
