Meet Dr. Linda Kongnetiman, managing lead of our Anti-Racism program. As a former social worker and from her own experiences, Linda knows it isn't easy to talk about something that you're experiencing daily because of who you are.
"The trauma, mental health, and well-being issues that these families have is something that will be lasting and will cost us more for health care if we don't attend to it as a preventative measure. When we invest in addressing racism, we ensure that people are able to work to the fullest of their ability when they don't have to be afraid for their lives. They're able to have a business, and serve the people in Calgary. And youth are able to attend educational institutions and focus on what they need to become, rather than what they need to be. This work is important because people's lives depend on it."
