Tonight, in Belmont Chapel, St. Markers will remember veterans in a service led by Erica C ’15, aided by Nick N’76. Generations of St. Markers have served, not only in the U.S. military but in the armies of Britain, Canada, and France, along with many who served as chaplains, ambulance drivers and stretcher bearers. Tonight, each St. Marker will have in his or her hands a single name. They are the names of hundreds of St. Markers who have served in the military over the past century-and-a-half. When the service is over, students will take those names, not throwing them away, but cherishing each. They will be asked to put the name somewhere where they can see it daily, so they can take a moment from time to time when reading that name to pause, reflect, and remember. Each St. Marker who served cannot be forgotten, if there is at least one here to remember. #ThankYouForYourService
