It is estimated that there were over 100,000 deaths due to drug overdoses in the United States last year, and over 60% of those deaths took place in solitary settings without a bystander present. Chandra and his team are developing a device that can detect when someone is experiencing an overdose, alert emergency services or a personal contact, then automatically inject them with a life-saving dose of naloxone.
