In a feature in marieclairemag, CGI U ‘18 Sarah Gad of uchicago bravely shares her story of opioid addiction and how CGI U provided her the opportunity to advocate for better treatment of individuals with opioid use disorders in jails and prisons. During the #CGIU2018 meeting in Chicago, Sarah participated in an opioid panel where she connected with other like-minded students who inspired her to start Addicted 2 Action (A2A), an organization that makes MAT (medication-assisted treatment) accessible to inmates. • “Though it nearly killed me, my overdose ultimately saved me... To put it simply: I want to make it stop—and I think, finally, we’re figuring out how to do just that.”
