The landmine press is an exercise we utilize a lot and here are some of the common mistakes I see when coaching it..
1. First is not controlling the weight in the eccentric portion of the movement and carrying the momentum into the next rep
2. Second is not operating in a full range and getting full extension of the shoulder at the top of the movement
3. Third is not setting up in an optimal position to press
4. Next is losing tension in the abdomen as we get overhead
5. And lastly is leading the movement with a shrug of the shoulder, loading the upper trap first rather than the shoulder
The last clip is how we coach the landmine press properly. There are many variations of this pressing exercise, this is how we mostly use it for hypertrophy and strength purposes.
There are more dynamic ways to utilize the landmine press but we’re not there yet in the offseason 🌊🌊
