Strength is a relative term!
Is it important to be able to generate force against the ground, like what you get from a heavy deadlift or squat? Of course it is. But the fact of the matter is that if you’re reading this right now, you’re probably not a power lifter!
However athletics is not just about brute force, it’s about force absorption and creation, mobility, and joint control. Strength contributes to that, but it is only a piece.
If your training looks like that of a body builder or power lifter, I can assure you, you are leaving something on the table. Your training and rehab should consist of a well balanced program that trains qualities that are important for your sport and your position.
So don’t get caught up in the numbers, and train to be an athlete!
