Katie Beachem, a fourth year Ph.D. student in the Integrative and Evolutionary Biology program at USC Dornsife, shares a quick, fun lesson in buoyancy for kids.
Katie participates in the Young Scientists Program (YSP) through USC Dornsife’s Joint Educational Project. Through YSP, USC students help promote science literacy to local elementary school students through hands-on scientific demonstrations.
Katie loves YSP because she gets to share her passion for science and teaching with kids. “Engaging in science at a young age is what drove me to become a scientist and I hope to pique that interest in the next generation,” she says.
We encourage you to share this science project with a child! You can also learn more about the USC Young Scientists Program at the 🔗 in our bio.
