Welcome to a virtual poetry reading in honor of
#NationalPoetryMonth! Today, Geoff Dyer, writer in residence at USC Dornsife, reads Lord Byron’s poem "So, we'll go no more a roving." The title gives away why it’s so timely as we honor the stay at home order in Los Angeles. Dyer adds: “In the past I’ve had fun updating and parodying this lyric by the party-loving Byron, changing ‘roving’ to ‘raving,’ ‘loving’ to ‘loved-up,’ ‘moon to ‘full moon’ and so on. But now, with my wife ill in bed and no possibility of going out anywhere anyway, even for coffee, the poem is best left to itself, in all its aching and lovely simplicity.” Geoff, we send your wife wishes of a speedy recovery. Thank you for sharing this poem with us.
