It's #FacultyFriday! Get to know Jill Sohm, assistant professor (teaching) of environmental studies, who answered three questions about herself. Sohm is a trained biological oceanographer, which means she studies the interaction between organisms and the ocean. Specifically, she investigates how different cyanobacteria are distributed in the ocean and the effect that can have on ocean chemistry. She has also done similar work in coastal sediments and in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica. Today her work focuses on the interests of her students and ranges from water pollution, to coastal erosion and aquaponics.
