This weekend, students in Jill Sohm’s environmental studies senior seminar (ENST 495) took a field trip to Santa Cruz Island off the coast of Santa Barbara to explore the unique environments and biodiversity of
#California. Specifically, they were looking at native and endemic plants. The class focuses on California natural history, biodiversity and agriculture, and how genetic modification might play a role for them in the future. In the wake of the trip, students will create Google Earth maps of locations of native plants found along the hikes they took. (📷 from Jill Sohm)
