Researchers in the Brain and Creativity Institute, led by Antonio and Hanna Damasio, are uncovering the neurological basis for a wide array of mental functions — from emotion and decision-making to the creativity expressed in the arts, sciences and technology. They have shown that elementary school students undertaking music training have stronger hearing skills. This, in turn, can strengthen their reading and improve their ability to understand nuances in conversations.
