As the polar ice caps shrink, the Arctic’s oil and gas reserves are becoming accessible along with the opportunity for a new tourist industry and expanded commercial shipping routes. The Arctic is also quickly becoming a zone of interstate confrontation as key national players assert their territorial claims. Through the USC Dornsife Problems Without Passports program’s “Ecological Security and Global Politics” course, undergraduates travel to Iceland, Norway and Finland to explore the policy issues surrounding climate change and its impact on the region. #FrontlineScholars
