In the early 90s, there were talks about Mr. Potato Head being the official mascot. Then, a little movie called toystory (maybe you heard of it 😉) came out , and that garnered new interest in the toy, resulting in the deal falling through. In 1994, Spuddy Buddy becomes the official idahopotatoes mascot! It’s a version of the Potato Buddy that was used in marketing in the 1980s. Potato Buddy was a cowboy that wore hat, bandana, and boots. Spuddy Buddy is was updated to wear an Idaho red sweatshirt and sneakers. You’ve probably seen Spuddy Buddy at bigidahopotato events!
