We've got the white gloves out and are preparing to display this iconic #burlesque gown belonging to #GypsyRoseLee at this weekend's vintageexpo for your viewing pleasure. When I was a little girl, seeing Natalie Wood portraying Gypsy had a major impact on me, and I absolutely LIVED for the #striptease montage. Of course, it wasn't until several years later when I was a teenager that I actually learned that Gypsy was a real person, and soon after that I set out to create burlesque shows like the ones I loved so much in that film. I purchased this gown at auction several years ago along with the silver beaded corset and bra that Natalie Wood performs in for the film. What I find most fascinating about this, and my pleasure in owning it (besides being able to to share it with you!) is to be able to see inside, to see the way it was made, to see all the repairs and darning that show how well loved and worn the dress was.
