Today marks the first day of Ramadan, an Islamic holiday which continues until May 2nd. The month of Ramadan is considered the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It’s a time of fasting, prayers, and selfless acts of service in honor of Allah (God). It’s also a time for introspection and self-betterment. The atmosphere of Ramadan—with its special prayers, traditions, and foods—is intended to bring together the Muslim community by embracing shared purpose, charity, and devotion.
