Hockey players start up fall clinics in September, then tryouts within the month, followed by an intensive set of games, practices, and tournaments through February. The best teams continue on into March. After this six to seven months of hockey, what should a player do? More games, more team and system-based practices? We would argue that the ideal is to take time off the ice and focus on building athleticism! A stronger and more athletic player is more adaptable. A more adaptable player progresses faster, learns movements quicker, etc.
