Jim Bostic's legacy as a JSBL player goes well beyond his championships, tremendous post scoring and rebounding, and physicality/toughness. Listed at 6'7, Bostic was undersized for his position throughout his entire professional career, but that is not the biggest obstacle that Jim was forced to overcome during his basketball career.
As revealed to those in attendance at the banquet, Jim Bostic played his entire basketball career with vision in only one eye. He never let anyone know because he felt that his opponents would use that knowledge against him. Despite the adversity he was forced to play through, he led his team to the NCAA Tournament in college and embarked on a very successful pro career including making it all the way to the NBA as a member of the Detroit Pistons.
All the young athletes that listen to Jim's story should remember it the next time they have an excuse for why can't do something. You can do it despite the obstacles in front of you. Jim Bostic proved that.
