Q: When did you start sewing, and what inspired you to get into the craft?
I started sewing in 7th grade because I wanted to make my dolls their own clothes! I’ve always been interested in textiles and fashion, and using dolls has been a perfect creative outlet for me to design.
Q: What has running an Etsy store been like? What are the rewards and challenges?
I’ve been running my Etsy shop, Littleorchiddollies, for over 3 years now. The greatest challenge is the Etsy platform due to its many fees that take away profit from sellers. However, there are many rewarding moments, like seeing customers photographing their own dolls in items I’ve made!
Q: Do you plan to use the sewing or embroidery machines at the BeAM Makerspace?
At UNC, I definitely plan on using the BeAM Makerspace sewing machines! While visiting UNC, I made sure to check them ...
