It*s OK to reach out if you're not OK.
[Trigger Warning] Observed on Sept. 10, World Suicide Prevention Day provides necessary opportunities for us to raise awareness, provide support, learn about well-informed action and reduce stigma around suicide and self-harm. As a community, we must do better at checking in on our friends, family, colleagues, and co-workers. (Recognize what's being said in between the lines.) The more aware and educated we are, the better equipped and responsive we'll be to help and support those around us.
There's a well-intended but misguided notion that there needs to be a perfect fix. But that's simply not the case: there's no single antidote, just as there's no single cause of suicide. With the addition of the pandemic, it is more important than before for us to move with genuine intentions, give love, and create safe spaces. That's what community does – they're there for each other.
