A warrior of change spearheading a whole movement. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Meet Asia Jackson, @aasian, a Black-Filipino actress and digital creative based in Los Angeles. In 2016, she coined the movement #MagandangMorenx, which translates to "beautiful brown skin," to combat colorism in the Filipino community. Growing up, she believed it was an isolated experience to be bullied for the color of her skin, but learned it was a shared common thread for other immigrants and people of color. Instead of waiting for the culture to change, she's changing the culture. #MagandangMorenx is a bold, in-your-face statement towards dismantling colorism. There's literally no room for such nonsense. We stand behind the movement to reclaim and redefine what it means to be Filipino and celebrate diversity. It's time to define beauty by our own terms.
