After a weekend with this crew I feel like I’ve known them my whole life. Driving back from my last leg of Hood to Coast I couldn’t help but think how cool it is that all these people from all over (NY, Detroit, Texas, Dallas, San Diego, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Toronto, Vancouver…) came together to run. Many of us had never met before, but everyone came into it with such great attitudes and I never once heard a single complaint, only laughter and words of encouragement. Another thing I realized: I was the only pro athlete in the whole group and honestly I was the most boring person there. Every single person I talked to had started something, founded something, is working on something epic, AND holds down a full-time job. They all do so much good in the world it kind of blows my mind. And every single person I talked to brought up COMMUNITY and how their WHY revolves around sense of community and belonging. That really resonated with me.
