thedrmondo has been helping me figure out my “why” for running over the last year. I’m motivated to work harder, endure more pain, and make the necessary sacrifices to be great when I’m doing it for a greater PURPOSE. I’m motivated to run for girls and women.
The
#fastbraidfriday movement is part of that, but it’s only the beginning.
Last night I ran for the young women at Achieving My Purpose, a local organization in Phoenix for women of color ages 18-30 that gives them the support they need to achieve their PURPOSE in life.
You better believe I fought all the way to that finish line for those gals. I had to lean hard to nab 2nd place in 8:40 for 3k. It was definitely uncomfortable, my lungs and legs were burning and telling me to give up. I’ve been training hard, so I didn’t feel fresh or bouncy. It was a grind.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but running for Achieving My Purpose was so inspirational for me and I was thinking about it every lap as I had to keep making the decision...
