I love how during an hour run with a girlfriend we can cover SO many different topics.
One thing girls and women need to talk to one another about more is our periods! I don’t understand why this seems to be such a taboo subject, but since it’s not a normal part of conversations, women tend to feel embarrassed about it and don’t feel comfortable asking questions.
Girls and women: you should NOT be skipping periods even when training hard. If you do, it means your output is not matched with your intake and it’s throwing your hormones out of balance. This causes decreased bone density which leads to stress fractures and even osteoporosis.
If aren’t getting a regular period or have concerns, you should always seek advice from a doctor or a dietitian who can take a look at your diet and exercise routine and see where things might not be matching up.
I like to recommend talking to your girlfriends on a run because you don’t have to make eye contact! Chances are your friend is wanting to bro...
