"Sgt. 1st Class Elizabeth Calderon, born and raised out of California. Joined the U.S. Army to “see the world.” I’ve seen the world alright, but let me tell you I’ve also seen the evolution of minds. I’ve seen myself grow into the woman I am now. I use to be a shy, insecure and timid girl. You won’t see that person in me anymore. I’ve discovered that I’m here to elevate and empower those around me. I embodied “my voice” when I became a Drill Sergeant. I came across people of all different backgrounds but all had a common goal. SELF PURPOSE. It was my job to break them down and assist in re-building them physically, mentally and stronger. Watching their journey gave me life. It excited me to watch my Soldiers overcome their fears, accomplish their goals and to come together as a team. We all realized we needed each other.
