"Independence means so many different things to different people. Sometimes your level of independence is based on individual circumstances. Being a Soldier changed my circumstances like I'd never imagined and opened the door for opportunities I never thought I'd have. Throughout my 23 years of Army service I'd been on many missions in many different places and it felt good knowing I was there for a purpose, but nothing felt better than coming home. This photo marks one such occasion, and probably the best homecoming ever -- I made it home to a warm welcome of familiar faces and strangers ... and just in time for the birth of my son! That son, is now serving in the Army as a 1st Lt. continuing the legacy, successful. I guess that's what independence means to me." #myindependence #ArmyTeam #USArmy
