"Initially, I decided to join the Army for a better way of life and better career opportunities. But throughout the next nine or so years that followed that decision, I found myself on an exciting journey as an Army broadcaster -- serving as a news anchor for troops & their families overseas in Europe and Korea and essentially living on the road with the team, going wherever the stories took us. Fast forward to a couple of years ago and my co-worker ends up being someone who used to watch me on AFN, a self-proclaimed "fan" - as if I had those. She said what we did made a difference, and that's pretty cool. Now I take the leadership skills and team mindset from my Army career to my Roller Derby league.
