Sprinter Sydney Smith and high jumper Thomas Senechal-Becker are the Biosteel Athletes of the Week. Smith won the 600m at the Redbird Last Chance Meet. The 2021-22 season has been tremendous for the senior from Ottawa, as her 600m time of 1:29.38 at the Windsor Team Challenge earlier this year is currently the fastest in U SPORTS and the fastest all-time by a Gee-Gee. Smith heads into next week’s OUA Championship as a medal favourite. Senechal-Becker won the high jump competition at the Redbird Last Chance Meet - his second win in as many weeks. The first year Health Science student’s clearance of 2.02m easily took the event. Senechal-Becker is currently ranked third nationally in the high jump, thanks to a clearance of 2.05m last week in Windsor.
