Continuing with our #centennial commemorations, we recognize the acts of #togetherness that have kept us shining bright these past 100 years, and the different groups and organizations at the heart of Playhouse Square’s story. 💛✨ . Today we shine a light on the original visionaries behind the 1972 reclamation project that saved our beautiful theaters from demolition. . We are forever grateful to - Ray Shepardson, the first visionary; journalist William “Bill” Miller, who would document efforts to save and revitalize the theaters for 15 years; Elaine “Lainie” Hadden, then president of The Junior League who would go on to become president of Playhouse Square Association; lawyer Oliver “Pudge” Henkel, Jr., who would become the first chairman of the Playhouse Square Board of Trustees; his successor John F.
