Zebra shark. These recently endangered, nocturnal carpet sharks are frequently found in coral reefs, rubble and sandy areas in the ocean. When they’re young, zebra sharks have yellowish stripes on their body, earning them their name. But they lose their stripes! Once they’ve reached adulthood, their stripes turn to dark spots and that’s why they’re sometimes mistakenly called leopard sharks. They’re generally harmless and usually won’t attack humans unless provoked.
