When I got the assignment to cover Candy for discoveredmagazine this spring, I went into it wanting to capture everything on film, portraits and live photos. And to have not just the backing but the encouragement to do so. I was stoked. So often I’m working film in as a secondary, using it to grab little bits and pieces here and there. To bring nothing but manual focus film cameras. The dream.
I also knew I wanted to play with capturing some of the energy of the show in ways that I generally don’t. I know as a photographer, I often focus on achieving clinical sharpness and perfectly frozen motion, but photos like this, that go so far to the other boundary (for me) are a nice reminder to step back and try something new every now and then.
