ben barlow // neck deep // so what?! 2016 5D3 // 50L // VSCOFilm A bit has changed since the first time I saw Neck Deep play at (then) South by So What?! on a cold Sunday evening in 2014. The most apparent thing, and deservedly, is the size of the crowd. These guys had a few hundred kids checking them out that year, and this year, well, let's say it was a few more (and more photographers, clearly), not to mention that they played as direct support for pop-punk greats New Found Glory last week. Oh, and that whole playing Warped thing, taking the main stage on several days of the tour. Sitting at a hockey game a little while ago a buddy of mine told me, emphatically, to make sure I listened to Neck Deep's most recent release, "Life's Not Out to Get You" and I think he was right, it's a damn near perfect pop-punk record. Infectious, catchy, stuck in your head sing alongs. I was definitely happy to catch their set last Saturday and see them play quite a few songs off that record. #neck...
