I grew up in rural Illinois. Just south of travelwisconsin and waterparkcapital. I remember how jealous I was of friends who would take their yearly summer vacay to “the Dells”. I’m sure all the midwesterners here can relate 😂 Wisconsin Dells is truly Shangri-La for kids and families. It’s mile upon mile of epic water parks, theme parks, and every family friendly excursion you can imagine. And to be honest I’d still love to go to all of them in the summer as a 36 year old solo woman 😂 But what is there to do outside of what it’s known for, I wondered before I made this trip. What is there to do in the “off-season”? What if I just want to relax? Find some solitude? And when I tell you I was blown away by the answer. From the adults-only fairytale sundara.spa to multiple impressive, peaceful and awe-inspiring state parks to great food and beautiful lakes — I felt like I really had dropped into that mythical place.
