You might be surprised to hear that I would describe myself as a homebody. I’m writing this now from my couch, while looking outside at the garden and listening to the rain. I am so happy to be here. I’ve been a lot of places, but the thing about home is that it’s mine. It’s familiar. Comfortable. Something I can come back to and fully relax.
My home is my self-definition in many ways. It always has been. When I was growing up I was lucky enough that my mom let me change the theme of my room often. I remember asking for bright yellow walls when I was around 10 — yellow like the brightest sun — and she did it for me. Those walls made me so happy.
As I’ve gotten older I take even more pride in my home. I love to bring back trinkets from my travels to display. Integrate all parts of me into my space.
