🚨 Long post alert 🚨
In 2018 I ran my first marathon on 2 herniated discs and bruised tailbone. I saw a doctor two weeks before NYC, they gave me some steroids and I was able to run. I did not hit my target time but I finished in once piece. I was told rest would heal whatever hip and back pain I was having so I kept living my life with little running or physical activity. Fast forward to February 2019, sitting in an big important meeting at work, I lost all feeling in my right leg and lower back. I panicked called my doctor who said “not my speciality” and waited months to figure out what was going on. It took my PT and GP multiple referrals to find a back doctor with an appointment open. At this point I couldn’t touch my toes or even pick up my computer bag off the floor, I wasn’t supposed to walk my dog more than a half mile, let alone run.
