Coming into the Gorilla rapid is one of the most exhilarating experiences ever. You are already tired and nervous as you coming into the hardest and steepest section of the race. Then you hear this thunder of cheers and then you can see the massive crowds of people cheering and lining the river bank. It is almost magical to think that every other day of the year the river banks are empty, yet this day it is like you are paddling through a NFL stadium full of fired up fans. Nothing modivates/intimidates you more then a mob of people combined with people cheering and hoping for you to crash. This lasts for several hundred yards and is just one of the most incredible things I have witnessed in our sport.
