2018 Australian Racing Hall of Fame Inductee - ABERCORN The handsome chestnut stallion Abercorn defeated the great Carbine in 3 of 7 races. His Hall of Fame trainer Tom Payten maintained that Abercorn was ‘a better stayer’. Abercorn won 21 top Syd & Melb races including 2x Sires Produce, 2x St Legers, the 1887 AJC Derby, and an AJC Metropolitan. At stud, Abercorn sired winners of the AJC Doncaster, Vic Derby and Aus Cup. He was exported to England in 1898, and died in Ireland 1905.
