Such a fun day at the #NBFifthAveMile! I ran in my heat nice and early, and then did a quick outfit change and got to spend the day on camera with nyrr and newbalancerunning. (You’ll be able to see the video later this week, and you’ll see some familiar faces, like tayshia and zwclark.) I had no expectations for my own race beyond wanting to have fun, and I did that! The spectators were awesome, and it just felt so good to be sprinting down Fifth Avenue with people screaming and clapping (#wordsofaffirmation). I would’ve loved to go sub-6:00 like I did in January (and this was a solid 13 seconds slower than that!), but a three-second course PR is worth celebrating, I think! The first quarter felt fast and fun, the second (uphill!) quarter felt hard, and the third and fourth were “hold on and try not to slow down TOO much!” A great, exhausting day in New York City, surrounded by runners, and so many of my favorite people.
