On Friday night, in slight preparation for the next day’s #PopularBKHalf, I was reading my old Brooklyn Half race recaps. In my 2011 recap, I wrote about finishing the race and taking the subway from Coney Island back to the Upper East Side. “That’s weird,” I thought to myself as I traveled down memory lane. “I guess boldceo didn’t come to the finish that year?” And then I remembered. We hadn’t even started dating yet. Our first date came a few hours later that very day, after making it safely back to the Upper East Side, taking a quick shower, and then trekking to Van Cortlandt Park to shoot jackrabbit_original commercials. Thanks to a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a flirty Facebook message, our first date started around 10 PM, shut the bar down at 4 AM, and (innocently, I mostly swear) continued until 3 PM the next day, when coachcane’s training plan had me scheduled for a three-mile recovery run.
